Dear Ask The Doctor: After ultrasound on my neck it was determined my artriey on the left side was completly blocked. is it wise to wait 2 wks before seeing the doctor again, as stroke can occur if surger is not done Dear Linda: The level of severity depend on the amount of blockage of the carotid artery. A block of more than 70% is considered significant and warrants immediate attention by a cardiovascular surgeon as there is an increased risk of stroke. |
