Patient :About an hour ago I fell down the stairs, I twisted my ankle pretty bad and think I might have hit it on something too. Where it hurts is right to the left of my ankle. I can stand up on it without severe pain, but as soon as I lift my foot to walk, a shooting pain goes up my leg. Could it be fractured or is it just a sprain? It's swollen and hurts to move around or even move my toes. Do I need to go to the hospital? If it is fractured will it need a cast?
