Acupressure treatment for shoulder pain caused by diabetes

Patient : Hello Doctor, My mother is 50 years old. She has diabetes. She's suffering from frozen shoulder from past 6 months. Her doctor had advised her to do some exercise to reduce the stiffness. But the pain was worsening and the exercise didn't help her a bit. Some of her friends advised her to take acupressure treatment. She's been taking the treatment since last week and she feels better. My question is can a diabetes patient take acupressure treatment? Is she going in the right way? She's afraid to ask her doctor, just in case her doctor would tell her to stop. I am worried that her treatment should not worsen the problem. I would be grateful if I am answered. Thanks.
