Allergy to peanuts... Can I eat this

Patient

Q: If I am allergic to peanuts, can I eat partially defatted peanuts?

Doctor

A:   Thank you for your question. Peanut allergies can be very severe and even product containing traces of peanuts can elicit an allergic reaction. These allergic reactions can cause a life threatening condition known as anaphylaxis, wherein the airways swell shut restricting one's breathing. We strongly recommend that you avoid all products containing peanuts, including partially defatted peanuts.
