Patient :I am worried that I may be pregnant. I had protected sex while I was behind on my birth control and a week or so later I started having cramps, lower back pain and some milky discharge. I took a pregnancy test about 8 days after the last time of protected sex and it came back negative. I am still currently suffering from these symptoms after a week. My period isn't expected until next week. Am I pregnant or do I have an infection?
Symptoms: milky discharge, stomach cramps, lower back pain
You mentioned that you had protected sex followed by white discharge medically termed leukorrhea with cramps and pain. You mentioned that you took pregnancy test after days which was negative. Pregnancy test available in market are usually done around expected date of periods, else earlier performed results will be always negative. Since you had protected sex, chances of pregnancy is negligible, but on a safer side, get test done around the dates of expected period. White discharge is classical to vaginal infection. You mostly got contacted with a STD, surprising though you had protected sex. Consult a gynecologist for further followup.
