Anemia and blood sugar

Patient: Hi, Can anemia increase blood sugar? Thank you.

Doctor: Anemia can be a condition of low iron or low Vitamin B12.  For the most part, iron levels and vitamin B12 levels should not have an effect on your serum glucose concentration.
