APO-DICLO and breast feeding

Patient

Q: I have tendinitis and was prescribed APO-DICLO SR 75MG. I am still nursing my 1.5 year old, but not often. Is this safe to take while breastfeeding

Doctor

A:   Thank you for your question. Diclofenac Sodium (Apo-Diclo SR 75) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medication commonly used to treat pain and inflammation. NSAIDs are generally contraindicated during the third trimester of pregnancy. However, it is safe to take this medication while breastfeeding your child.
