Back Problem?

Patient : I had back surgery about 10 years ago for hernated disks (L1 and L2). Since the surgery my lower left leg is slightly numb. Once in awhile I awake with pain in my calf kind a like the start of a charlie horse but much deeper. Last night this happened 4 times and you could see the nerve pulsing in my leg and foot - to the point that you could see the swelling in my foot and then my veins were popping out. This only lasted about 15 minutes each time. Is this from my back and should I be concerned?
