Back problems and returning to work

Patient: In january of 2009 i had lumbar surgery for a pintched nerve and ruptured disk.now i have to get surgery for a herniated disk. will it be safe for me to continue working.

Doctor: Whether you will be able to continue working depends on the outcome of the surgery and the type of work you do. Herniate d disk surgery usually goes very well and patients can return to their normal activites after a relatively short recovery period.
