Patient :I have bilateral medial knee pain, I have had 10 physical therapy sessions, custom fit orthotics, I had an mri on my left knee (insurance wouldnt cover both) It indicated a small medial meniscus tear. However my Orhopedic surgeon is a bit confused because I test negative for a torn meniscus with the "physical Tests" no pain indicated. My knees hurt worst in the morning they feel very tight, they actually feel better just after excersise, therapy, golfing etc, then a few hours later the pain returns. Nights are brutal my left knee wakes me up at 4 am every morning. I have also had cortisone shots that did not help. I have a apptmnt tomorrow to discuss surgery for the torn meniscus, do these symptoms indicate a torn meniscus, and will surgery help?
