Birth control and overseas flying

Patient: I am going on an 8 hour overseas flight in May and I am currently taking birth control pills. I am worried about the risk of blood clotting during the flight. I am 24 and have never had any blood issues on the pill. Am I at a high risk for a clot on the flight? I take the pill to have a lighter period and less cramping, so it is not a birth control issue. Would it be overreacting to go off the pill before I go on the trip?
