Blood pressure, pulse, medication and alcohol

Q: I was put on bp meds in november last year. I lost 20kg, eat less meat and exercise 5 times per week. Most of the time my morning readings are fine, around about 127/76/57, but when I drink alcohol, even 100ml white wine at 7pm with a meal, the next morning my readings go up. The bp only slightly to 150/80-6, but the pulse goes to 112. What causes this? Delayed interaction with meds? The stripping of nutrients by alcohol? Anxiety? Or is there something wrong with my liver, kidneys etc. I would still like to drink moderately on occasion, and my doctor said it was fine to do just that, so why is it happening and is there a way for me to enjoy a glass of wine?

Symptoms:  raised bp, high pulse
