Patient : Good day
My question concerns high blood pressure. I have hypertension which is currently controled by norvast. When under control and calm my bp averages 123 or 89. I was on Cymbalta 30 mg for 15 days and when my bp spiked to 154 over 101 this past Friday, the doctor order me off the Cymbalta. Since then my blood pressures keeps spiking throughout the day. Just this afternoon, it spiked to 154 over 104 while in a psychotherapy group that was discussing self esteem. I haven't suffered from a panic attack in 4 yrs so I am positive I didn't have one. I could feel my bp raising and knew right away to go to the nurse before I vomited. Now, I am certain it was not a panic attack yet the question remains, would a panic attack caused the spike in BP or would the spike in BP cause a panic attack. It took 20 minutes for my BP to go down to 145 over 98 and that was as low as it got today. Even now I am lighthead with a headache. Gee, I hope this question is not too complicated. I have good medical doctor who monitor me regularly and a nurse will be taking my bp tomorrow morning but I am now curious about the spiking of BP and I certainly do not want to start cruising the internet for answers. If you cannot answer this long question, I understand. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
