Patient : I tripped going down stairs, hanging my right heel on a step, somehow twisting my left knee and I heard it pop and felt kind of like it was tearing, this was on the outside, toward back of left knee. Then I fell onto the concrete, hitting on my right knee first, outer front of knee, then the left inner front of knee hit, double whammy. I did eventually get up and could walk, I iced and elevated both knees, rested remainder of the evening, this helped with pain. The fall was 48 hours ago, while the pain wasn't too bad the yesterday, it has gotten worse today with walking at work, etc, more stiffness, but not alot of swelling. Great deal of pain in left knee when standing up from sitting in a chair or bending too far or certain twisting. Pain in the right knee is more with twisting and extends down outer front of lower leg. Do I really need to see a doctor? I mean I can walk, although it's gingerly and difficult to fully extend both knees in full stride when walking, but there isn't a lot of swelling. Maybe it's just a sprain and blunt force bruising huh? Oh, I'm just an average 52 year old female. I did completely tear the MCL in my left knee 6 years ago, but fully recovered from the injury.
