Brown discharge during Menopause

Patient

Q: I am age 56 I haven't had my period in 5 years, this morning I had a slimy bown string like discharge from my vagina, I have no bleeding or pain. Is there any concerns I should have?

Symptoms:  Vaginal brown discharge
Doctor

A:   Hello,
Thanks for the query.

Since there is no bleeding and just slimy discharge for the first time , it could be vaginitis. Maintain feminine hygiene and also drink plenty of water. See a gynecologist in case the discharge increases. Feminine wash containing lactic acid will helo restore the pH and reduce such symptoms.

Hope this helped.
Regards
