Calf muscle injury

Patient

Q: Hi,
The inside of my upper calf is bruised and has a very small but noticeable bump in the center of the bruise. The bruise is about the size of a silver dollar. My whole calf hurts when I walk, but I can still bend it without pain. I didn't hear a tearing sound when the injury occured. I'm worried that this is a hernia due to the small lump. I am keeping the leg elevated, compressed and iced. If this is a hernia do I need surgery or once it gets relatively better will It just be an aesthetic issue?

Symptoms:  Leg pain, bruising, small lump.
