Can black hair dye cause swollen lymph nodes? I

Patient

Q: Can black hair dye cause swollen lymph nodes? I had a bad allergic reaction to the hair dye and the lymph node near my ear is a little bit swollen .

Doctor

A:   Hi.
The black hair dye can not cause direct lymph node enlargement.

It can cause the skin reaction which in turn can cause the lymph nodes to enlarge.
Well, if it so, get an appropriate treatment with antihistamine and steroids at the earliest and get well soon.
And never use such dyes in future.

Hope this helps you
