Can depression cause permanent damage, even after a year?

Patient: Hello, I just turned 13 and to make a very long story short, I’ve had depression for a little more than a year, and it’s not really my mood I’m worried about, it’s my mind. I don’t feel nearly as intelligent as I once did, my memory has become horrible and It’s very hard to have good thought clarity. I also have very sudden pains in my head, usually at the front behind my eyes. I’m also taking 25mg of Zoloft every day since last week. My question is if any of this stuff I’m feeling will cause permanent damage.Thanks.
