Can the body flush medications?

Patient : Can the body remove medications from it's system? For example I am in a lot of emotional distress and only having 2 hours sleep that night I took two (unprescribed but from the pharmacy) sleeping pills on an empty stomach, and after half an hour I fell asleep. However after only 30 minutes of sleep, I woke up having to pee, going back to sleep was impossible and after another 30 minutes had to pee again. This repeated itself again, unable to sleep and only 30 mins between toilet breaks. That day I pee'd about 4 times more liquid (after taking the pills) than I had consumed all day...
