Can the scar tissue from my stress fracture be treated?
Patient :I am a distance runner, in late 2012, I developed a stress fracture in my talus with bone edema. 4 months off, then began running again, broke it again after 2 months, 8 weeks in boot, PT, recovery. I often still have a feeling of swelling and soreness where my stress fracture was after I run, and I am certain that it is just scar tissue. Is there anything I can do other than ice consistently and try to strengthen the stability in my leg?
