Patient : Dear Doctor,
I am concerned about my 5 year old son. He is very smart but is very spacey. He will rotate his head around almost like he is intoxicated and not look at you. He will repeat what you have told him to do, back to you, but can't seem to process what he has been told into an action. He just does not seem to focus on anything, its like he has a cloud around him. He has to be told over and over what to do before he will complete a task. He has been in kindergarten now for two weeks and the teacher says he is not completing his work. She says he can do the work very easily but will just not do it. We are currently treating him for a lazy eye. He also plays football but cannot catch the ball. His teacher is telling us that he will focus on an object like a crayon and look it over and over but he will not actually use the crayon for its purpose of completing his assignment. His health is normal otherwise, socially he is fine, but he cannot or will not focus. Im stumped as to what is happening and what we need to do to treat it. Any ideas?
