Cold is is not the same as it has always been this time

Q: I have had a sore throat for about five months. The weather is changing and I noticed that I got the first symptoms of a common cold, though upon waking up early this morning, I notice that my nose is not all stuffy and mucousy like it normally is should be during a cold, though my nasal cavities have a burning feeling as if they are irritated. I've been worried that my throat may have something serious wrong with it, but have been delaying medical treatment because I don't have insurance or the ability to pay for it. What do these symptoms point to?
