Cold sores – vitamin deficiency?

Patient: Is the herpes virus the only cause for cold sores? Is it possible that vitamin deficiency could cause coldsores?

Welcome to ask the doctor.Cold sores can be due to viral infection or Vitamin B complex or Zinc deficiency.Cold sores in viral infection are grouped fluid filled lesions associated with burning sensation or itch.Deficiency of vitamin and zinc leads to multiple sores usually involving the oral mucosa.Treatment depends on the cause.Visit your Doctor so that he can examine you and give you a prescription accordingly.You can share my opinion with him.I hope it helps.Take care.
