Consistent Chills / Post Nasal Drip

Patient

Q: I have had congestion now for about 2 months. I am prescribed Claritin D and Nasonex. My nose is pretty cleared up except for I still have post Nasal drip which created mucus. This isnt that bad, but i suffer from chills on an almost every day basis without ever having a fever. Sometimes these chills are accompanied by a coldsweat. These chills can last anywhere from 5 minutes to an entire day. Any ideas on why? Thanks

Doctor

A:   Hello
Welcome to Ask The Doctor.
You seem to be suffering from Chronic Sinusitis.
I would advise following in such scenario:

1. To take short course of antibiotic like Azithromycin.
2. To take an anti allergic like Levocetrizine
3. To do warm saline gargles.
4. To do steam inhalation
5. If not relieved with above measures, you can ask your doctor to prescribe you Fluticasone nasal spray.
I hope it helps.
Stay Healthy.
