Constane urinary tract infections

Q: Between Jan and March 2012 I had a mastectomy, lymph-node/ectomy, and hysterectomy. Since then I have had almost constant UTIs. My doctor is stumped. My neighbour across the hall says that comes with old age, but once you hit 70 it will quit. (I am 60 and she is 78) She is a retired nurse and that is the best I get? I'm sure being on antibiotics most of the time is not good for me. I take a shower every day, but I don't wash the area with soap, because it has a balanced ph down there and I don't want to mess it up. I just use hot water. My doctor always insists on testing before hand. He is a stickler for that. Could the operations had messed up something down there? I have been to a urologist who did a cystoscopy and she says everything is pink and perfect. Do you have any advice?
