Coronavirus death rate of just over 4% is much higher than the flu

The latest numbers Ask The Doctor has been able to gather puts the coronavirus death rate at over 4%. Contrary to what American Vice President Mike Pence says, the risk of contracting the coronavirus is increasing everyday.

Over 100,000 people are now infected with the coronavirus which has killed more than 4000 people globally. This puts the death rate at over 4% which is much higher than the seasonal flu which has a death rate of just 1%.

World Health Organization’s director, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says the death rate is likely to decrease as more people are diagnosed and we are seeing some milder cases of COVID-19, many of which are going undiagnosed.

The risk of dying from coronavirus increases based on your age, which country you are getting treated in and pre-existing health problems you may already have.

If you feel you or a family member have been infected with the coronavirus, you can call Ask The Doctor’s free hotline at 1-877-453-4262 or contact us via email at and our team will do their best to help guide you to the appropriate care.
