Creatine and weight loss

Q: Im currently attempting to loose weight. In my effort to loose weight I have decided to combined weight lifting with cardio. I have read that creatine releases ATP as an energy source to your muscles so you have more energy to life weights. Dose this mean that I will be burning this energy instead of stored fat and of course calories? Should I loose the weight before I start taking creatine?
