Diabetic patient leg swell

Patient : Patient has diabetes. had a fall from a chair and so one of the legs chair had landed hard on the midfoot area. Has swelling ever since(2 weeks) and has swelling of the foot till the shin. Pain always and numb at times. I had massaged the patient's feet and the swell would go down. however, it swells back after few hours and the patient is now walking with a limp. Would it be appropriate to see a orthopedic specialist or which specialist is recommended? Please advice Sir/Mdm. Thanks.
