Patient :The doctor ordered D5 1/2 NS @ 75cc/hr. The patient's blood sugar was 650 when checked an hour and a half later. The patient was type 2 diabetic but never required medication for this. The patient would not swallow food for last day and a half. Could the IV fluids raise his blood sugar so high or other underlying cause?
