Patient : I had a boxer's fracture back in october of last year. my right hand's 4th and 5th metacarpal "tipi-ed" up and i had a cast on for about five - six weeks. it pretty much healed to the point where i had full usage of my hand again with no pain. the bone slightly jutted out a little as i decided not to have surgery. however last sunday i punched a wall and the next morning my hand was completely swollen. now the bone seems to be jutting out even more than before and there is discomfort when i touch the area. also there is pain in my ring finger with certain movements. it especially hurts when i push my ring finger into my thumb with a lot of force or try to grip an item with just my ring finger and thumb. i was looking for any advice besides, "ask your doctor" as i am trying not to miss work because of this. based on my description does my hand seem re-fractured?
