Diet pills and pregnancy

Patient: Can diet pills cause a false positive pregnancy test??

Doctor: Diet pills would not cause false positive pregnancy tests. Pregnancy tests in urine or blood react to ns a hormone calle d human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). This hormone is produced right after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterus. This usually happen but not always about six days after fertilization. If you’re pregnant, levels of HCG continue to increase rapidly, doubling every two to three days.
