Disc Herination

Patient

Q: My sister is facing acute backache with very restrictive legs movement. The MRI synopsis is "Disc dessication seen at multiple levels.Loss of lumber lordosis is also noted. degenerative verteberal end plate changes seen along the inferior end plate of L4 and superior end plate of L5. AT the L4-L5 level there is an extruded central disc herniation which shows upward migration causing severe thecal compression and sever bilateral foraminal narrowing and stenosis with a lateral recess stenosis" The doctor says that she should undergo surgery. Her age is around 45 please suggest if there is an alternative treatment or drugs which can obviate the surgery's necessity. I would be greatly thankful
