Disc protrusion and delayed symptoms

Patient

Q: I have a L3-4 disc protrusion (per MRI) from lifting a heavy object and scoliosis. my initial symptoms were left hip pain and low back pain. over 2 weeks time it progressed to left leg pain extending all the way down to the sole of my foot. (I am a 50 y.o. female) can it be normal for the leg symptoms to progress after the injury date, or should it have been immediately after the injury date? AND is hip pain a symptom of my problem. ( this pain is not like the occasional scoliosis pain I get, it is completely different and on the opposite side of my body)
