Disk hernia

Patient : I have a disk hernia L4-L5(having operation in the same place 2 years ago),now I had a RMI test. The doctor says that I do not need surgery, even I have a little numbness on my left leg and I hardly walk!He advised me to rest one day, take medication and some exercises like walking and swiming! Before the first surgery I had pain on the right leg, now the pain is on the left one. What is your advice? Also in case of second surgery any chance to get well???? Thank you in advance! Ionel
