Do I have the flu or something else?

Patient : Two days ago in the early morning hours, I could tell I was getting sick. I came down with a mild fever of around 100.5 along with a strong headache. That evening I got increasingly worse but when I woke up yesterday I felt almost fine, just a little tired. I had not taken any acetaminophen for around 12 hours. I felt okay until about 1pm when the fever returned worse along with minor chest congestion and cough. The headache never returned though. My temperature got up to at least 101.7 last night- This morning it is back around 100.5 - I've never had the flu before so I'm not sure if I have the flu, a viral infection I should just wait out, or a bacterial infection which antibiotics are necessary. Just started a new job last weekend and have two more days off. I would hate to call in or get my coworkers sick. Please give me some advice. Thanks - Nathan
