Do I need contraception after NovaSure ablation?

Q: I am 45, had NovaSure ablation 8 years ago for frequent but light periods, had no bleeding at all since then. I had two miscarriages and have had two vag deliveries, preterm labor delivered at 35 weeks and preterm labor delivered at 27 weeks. Recently became sexually active again and wondering abou the real need for birth control given my age and NovaSure ablation. I know the NovaSure is not birth control, but given my age, is there a real need other than for STDs? I feel like the chances of pregnancy would be extremely low.
