Patient : I am a 16 year old girl. For about 3 years now I have been struggling with my weight and currently I weigh 82 pounds and am about 5"2. I'm afraid to admit I have an eating disorder and recently I also began to cut. I hate to entertain the fact about anorexia but in recent months, I have seen some health problems I suspect may be a result of my dieting. I see spots, tunneling vision and blackness when I stand up whether abruptly or not and sometimes when I'm running too. In addition, my heart begins to race and I can feel it pounding in my neck and head. I get giddy and disorientated. I have met accidents because of this such as knocking into walls or falling down. I drop alot of hair and also have realised irregularity in bowel movement as well as my menstrual cycle. When I get hungry, my stomach may cramp and I experience nausea or suddden sharp pain in my stomach. I am always very pale and my skin has (as pointed out by my friends) a slight yellowish tinge. I also get shortness of breath and migraines. I feel tired and physically as well as mentally drained most of the time. Do you think I may have an eating disorder? Personally, I also have some binge eating episodes but am absolutelynot bullimic because I have never purged or entertained the idea of doing so.
