Patient :I am concerned that my 16 year old sister has some kind of eating disorder for many reasons. Firstly, she must always have a glass of water with her when she eats, taking a sip with every mouthful of food. She is excruciatingly slow at eating, chews excessively, and often complains of feeling full/undoes her trouser buttons after she has 'finished' her meals. She is very selfconcious about eating out and hates going to restaurants, often never finishing at least half the meal. She has on more than a few occasions made choking noises and spat up a load of water onto her plate. She's also very thin; weighs about 7 stone and is 5'5". Despite all this she seems to gorge herself on chocolate and sweet foods to the point where she has actually vomited due to consuming so much chocolate. I was wondering if there was anything that really should cause alarm or if I'm being paranoid? And how to raise my concerns to my Mother? She seems to keep making excuses for my sister.
