Question:

Drinking after hernia surgery

Dear Ask The Doctor:
Can u drink a beer 4 days after a hernia surgery?

Answer:

It is ill-advised to drink alcohol while taking medication prescribed by your doctor. I am sure you have been prescribed painkillers to help with recovery following your surgery. You should not consume any alcohol while taking these medications as they could interact negatively.
