DVT and foot massagers circulation boosters

Patient

Q: My mother suffered a DVT about 40 years ago - she is now 85yo. She had a triple heart by-pass surgery about 6 years ago and they used veins from the leg in which she suffered the DVT. She now suffers from swelling in the leg and foot of the same leg. I was reading up on foot massagers circulation boosters because I thought that might help reduce her swelling but in the instructions for these massagers circulation boosters it says NOT to use if a DVT sufferer. I want to know whether this exclusion would apply to my mum who suffered her DVT some 40 years ago. I'm pretty sure she is on walfin (or similar) also.
