Patient: I’m a female, 20 years old, 125 pounds. I’m a ballet dancer and dance and work out 5-6 days per week. However, I carry almost all of my body fat around my waist-not a good place. I have fairly low body fat in general, but so much around my waist that it looks as if my stomach is sticking out all the time. It’s not bloat- it’s fat that rolls or pools up when I sit or bend. I recently weighed 120 pounds but have gained since. I have strong abs, and cross-train often. I’m currently eating no more than 1200 calories per day in addition to being very active, but can’t seem to shake the ‘apple’ fat! I’m also hoping to return to 120 pounds, but with fat not muscle loss.
