Patient :3 months postpartum and still bleeding.? In November I was induced at 37 weeks due to preeclampsia. My baby was born with a retained placenta. I was taken down after her birth for a D&C to remove it. I bled for 2 straight months after her birth, and then started passing huge blood clots the size of soft balls, and gushing blood. These episodes would happen a couple times a week. My doctor did an ultrasound and determined there was thickening of the uterus, and I had a second D&C 3 weeks ago. The bleeding stopped for 2 days after the second D&C, and then on the 3rd day, the blood clots started again. My Doctor then prescribed methylergonovine to try to stop the bleeding. The bleeding and blood clots continued through this. On Monday, I had the worst episode yet, where I passed a clot the size of my hand, and bled through 4 pads in the span of about 10 minutes. I went to the ER where they did another ultrasound, and found thickening of the uterus still. My OB doesn't think there's anything let in there, so he prescribed 5 days of antibiotics, and a 7 days supply of estrogen pills to try to get the bleeding to stop. I'm on day 4 of the pills, and the huge blood clots continue now on a daily basis. I'm now over 3 months postpartum, and the issues are not stopping.
