Experiencing paralysis & electric shock sensation while sleeping

Patient: I’m having some odd experiences while sleeping. I will be very aware of my surroundings as if I’m awake but i can not respond in any way. sometimes I TRY to completely wake up but can’t. I can’t talk or move. my face and sometimes other body parts are numb. When this happens, I also feel an electric shock sensation that starts in my head and radiates in “waves” throughout my body. What could this be?
