Fatigue and "pins and Needles" sensation after alcohol

Patient

Q: Dear Doctor,
Over the past few months the day after consumption of a moderate amount of alcohol, I started feeling sudden episodes of very uncomfortable fatigue. I felt like i was going to faint so I found if i got up and walked out into fresh air I would be ok for a while. I also had a strong "pins and needles" sensation in my hands and feet.I have been consuming alcohol for a few years now and never experienced a reaction like this. This led me to believe that I possible had symptoms of diabetes so i went to my local doctor for an examination. He also took blood from me and al lresults came back ok a week later. He advised me to cut down on my alcohol intake which I have done. However, even after a very low amount of alcohol intake (maybe 5 units) I still feel these symptoms the next day. I have no problem stopping entirely but i still believe it is a sign of a bigger problem. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
