Fibular head fracture treatment

Q: I was in an automotive accident and was told that i have a fracture of the fibular head. The occupational doctor that was seen said to immobilize and use crutches to bear no weight on it and I was referred to an orthopedic specialist that I saw who advised me that this was not a weight bearing bone and that I could walk on it normally and it would heal in about 6 to 8 weeks. My question is that it is painful in that area when I do walk on it but the two treatment recommendations are on opposite sides of the spectrum so will it hurt it to walk normally on it or should it be immobilized?
