Flashing lights inside my head?

Patient

Q: About two days ago I started 'seeing' very quick light flashes inside my right eye, like a very fast strobe lights. These seemed to happen whenever I quickly turned my head back and forth in a horizonal direction. Most of the flashes of light seemed to be on the right side of my right eye, but if I shake my head forcefully they will also show up on the left side of the right eye. At first I thought the light source was coming from out side myself. but I noticed that in a dark room or even with my eyes closed I could still seek the flashes of light. There is not pain or discomfort with these flashes nor do I feel in any way impaired. Also I have not suffered any physical injury or started any new medication in quite some time. Thank you for your in put.
