Fracture in proximal tibia

Patient : I collided with a goal post over a month ago and first of all they thought i had a depressed fracture in the patella. after visiting fracture clinic they concluded that i actually had a proximal tibia fracture. which after being put in a full leg cast for 4 weeks has not showed any sign could this be because i put too much weight on it when i wasn't supposed to, now they have ordered an MRI as when doing tests the pain was in the knee. i am now in a knee brace which allows me to bend my knee to 90 degrees. do you think this appropriate treatment?
Symptoms:  Agonizing pain when weight bearing and bending
