Full of It!

Patient : I have an excessive amount of gas built up in my system, which usually is never a problem but lately I've been having bouts of nausea from it and trouble sleeping at night. I can feel the gas bubbles building in my system but its been hard for me to pass and when I do there is always so much more. I use to chew gum alot and eat hard candies, its only been a day or two since I've stopped those things thinking it will help. I've also tried drinking lots of peppermint tea both in the morning and a night, but it doesn't seem like its helping much. Someone suggested I take laxative to clear my system, if I do that I'm unsure which OTC medicine I should take. What can I do to get rid of this excessive gas which is starting to be a big problem?
