Going from Vyvanse to Adderall

Patient : I was prescribed Vyvanse 30mg to take mornings and afternoons (twice a day). I was then prescribed Adderall XR 40mg and Adderall IR 10mg to take at 8am and 2pm instead of the Vyvanse. The Adderall has not been working at all, so I asked him to switch the morning dose back to Vyvanse 30mg because it was working fine I just was having trouble with the re-dosing in the afternoon. Any idea why the Adderall was not working though? I would have liked to stay on the XR..but I just didn't get the focus and motivation that I got on the Vyvanse. Thank you ahead of time.
