Patient : For the last few years I have been putting on weight. I am now about 70 pounds overweight. However, I only eat between 1200 and 1400 calories per day. I also walk on a treadmill for 1 to 2 hours per day five days per week and go hiking in the woods twice per week. According to my calculations I should be losing just over 2 pounds per week, but I have not lost any weight. I had my thyroid checked (thyroid stimulating hormone) and the test came back normal. What else could be wrong with me that I could eat so few calories and exercise so much and gain and not lose weight?
